I am looking for a rebuild kit for a water pump for Massey Harris 30 or a rebuilt water pump for the same tractor.

If you live near SE Ontario, I have one here
I'd part with. They're 2 types of water pump. One
was made prior to 1951 and had a grease fitting
that forced grease between 2 bearings. The other,
later than that, was the standard sleeve pump lubricated by the coolant.

My parts MH30 has the grease fitting one but
needs a new bearing. You can have it cheap if your interested, but will require some muscle to get the old nuts off.

When you go looking, you'll probably have more success asking for a Continental engine water pump, 4 cylinder flathead. I think your's would be the 140 or the 162 cubic inch version. Both engines are identical other than cylinder bore and they'd use the same kit or pump. Those engines were on a lot of ag applications as well as industrial (including Lincoln welders for years and years) so you might check there too.

Hey Alberta Mike; Ihave a Massey 30gp.On the block it says E227.Apiston just holed out and a valve is bentI`m told it`s a continental but I can`t find out anything else. The piston measures 3.170 so it`s probably a 3 3/16 bore. Can you help?? Peace I got a water pump for it a couple of years ago and they listed it as a 101JR.

Bill,

Got some info from a old manual you mite find of use: MH30 MH30GR is gas rowcrop model MH30GS is gas standard model MH30KR is row crop distillate model MH30KS is standard distillate model

(no reference to GP I can find)

for the continental 162 cu. (my tractor) bore is 3-7/16in , 4-3/8 stroke.

compression 6.23 - 1 for G models 5 - 1 for K models

rebore when clearance piston and bore is over .010

pistons in gasoline models are aluminum alloy and tin plated cast iron in the low grade models.

aluminum pistons correct clearance between piston and cylinder .002

cast iron pistons clearance .003

rings:

Ring Gap Clearances for all 4 rings .005 to .015 Side Clearances for all 4 rings .0015 to .0025

for new rings do not use a ring that is over .010 too large.

Hope this helps.
