Oil coming out of MF165 exhaust

I have a 1969 MF165, and it has recently started to dribble oil out of the top of the exhaust pipe. She has also started to chuck out grey smoke. What is this a sign of? oil getting past the valves? new set of rings needed?

Check first the level in the crankcase.

I had the same problem on my Ford 5000.

If you have too much oil you can get this problem.

Could also be worn valve stems or valve stem seals if fitted (unlikely on perkins), head gasket failiure, or broken piston rings.
