I found a MF TO-35 in an old junk yard. The owner wants to sell it. It has power-adjust rear wheels and a six-speed transmission. I tried to get the SN but a bunch of wasps got after me. I asked the owner if it had a two-stage clutch, but he didn't know what I was talking about. My family has had small Massey's for years -- they're great tractors. My question is: Did the TO-35's have a two-stage clutch?

Folks: Check the PTO shifter to see if it has 2 stops. On the cover the word "ground" will be cast in on the lower stop of the shifter, and "live" will be on the upper stop with neutral in between. Also, push down on the clutch pedal and you will feel a stop, for the tranny, then push all the way down and you'll feel a second disengagement, for the PTO. The tractor will be a deluxe version. A ground PTO only (no live) was called a special version. Hope this helps.

Nick. The answer is yes. However, the two stage clutch was limited to the TO35 deluxe models. Hope this helps.

The vast majority of the TO35s had a two stage clutch. I have never seen one without but I know that they did make some without.

the deluxe to35's produced from 1953 to 1955 did have a 2 stage clutch and also a tachometer-its easier to spot from a distance when hornets are coming at you. i also believe that the deluxes were all finished in metallic green and grey. happy tractoring(is that a word?)
