The shifter on my MF35 is stuck in reverse gear but in the neutral position for the stick. Is there any way to get it unstuck and into the right position without taking the top off the transmission. Tried to pry through the "fill" hole with no luck. Didn't pry very hard as I was afraid of breaking something. Any ideas appreciated.

I had the same problem. I also went through the filler. I believe I moved the shifter rail 1 click and It ran like a charm. I need to adjust the clutch though. I love simple repairs like those.....

Hi,
I have a MFTO-35 and my shifter gets stuck once in a while. I found pulling the roll pin on the shifter allows me to pull up on the shifter and it unlocks itself almost instantly. I've been keeping a drift punch with me for just that reason. Good Luck
Brian

I have also had my 35 stucked in reverse, but I did not have any proper tool's to unstuck it with so I started driving the tractor backwards towards home.
After a little while driving backwards it released itself and I could continue driving forward again.

I think this is something you could try before trying to pry through the fill hole.

I would make sure that if there is any load on the gears to try to remove it. If the tractor is on a hill, try to move the tractor backwards just a little and block the tires. If you are sure that the gears are not loaded, I would try prying just a little harder. The reverse/first fork works on a shaft that is to the right of the second/high shaft.

Years ago I had an old M 65 I believe. Anywy it had a 6 cyl diesel engine. Anytime I hauled it the gears stacked. I was putting it in neutral so I then started hauling it in gear. I was always able to go thru the filler hole and unstack the gears. It was always one big sliding gear that vibrated out of position. Follow Bob's instructions.

Thanks for your responses. I got it unstuck last night. Went in through the oil fill hole with the handle of a 1/4" speed handle and was able to push the reverse/1st gear slider, on the right side, foreward. Couldn't get it with a straight tool but the handle worked perfectly!
