Well, most Chrysler engines were painted silver (or aluminum you might say) from the factory. I know all the old Dodge trucks and Chrysler product cars had the silver paint. My friend has a Super and it's engine/clutch housing is silver although I have a feeling that engine had been transplanted at sometime in the past. Problem is with photos in books and magazines, those big side panels always cover up the engine and you never see it. I would guess that they remained silver even in the Massey tractor line.

Both of ours are rust brown (not restored yet). Actually, if you unbolt something there is black paint. The "DATA BOOK" says "Engine: black (replacement engine was aluminum color)"... don't know if that refers to the engine size change in 1940 or if that refers to a factory/dealer replaced engine. Any ideas anyone? Good luck - ALAN
