Q's on my MF20D

My tractor is an MF 20D. I've been told that it is similar to the 135 and dates 70's to early 80's. I have not found a key for the serial number, it is 811031. It is a yellow industrial tractor with power steering. It's original use was as a mower, with turf tires and a 7-reel Ransome mower (mower for sale!).

What does the Top Link do (aside from the obvious)? Is there an adjustment available? How do I control the angle of an implement?

What kind of oil do I use for the transmission/hydraulic pump? Will automotive tranny fluid work?

How should the draft control be set, in relation to the lift control?

On the right heel is a pedal. It operates a shaft into the rear end, near where the brake shaft is. What is it?

On the right side of the transmission case is a position indicator with a means of adjustment. What is this? How should it be used?

Thanks for any help!

I can only help with the pedal on the right heel. It is a differential lock to help you out if you are stuck in a ditch (or stuck anywhere for that matter). Like any vehicle, if one wheel can turn freely, the other doesn't move so this pedal resolves that problem.

OK, NOW I'm cruising the site, trying to answer my own questions. On post had mention of the draft/position controls, but I'd like more detail as to the operation and relation of the controls.

What is a "shuttle shift"? More details on my MF20D: It has the 8-spd tranny and an adjustable front axle. There is a valve (shuttle?) controlling the auxillary hydraulic source vs. the 3-pt. lift. I have it looped back to the source (return?) next to the shift lever. This used to run the lift cylinders for the mower.

I gather that the lever next to the dipstick on the right is a "Response Control Lever". I still don't know what that is, or how it's used.

Anybody know where I might find a loader/backhoe to go on this?
