What size battery does the MF 165 Gas Model Call for? I believe the one I have isn't large enough, as it runs the starter slower than if I hook a jumper up to another "fresh" battery. Thanks all opinions appriciated.

Are both of the batteries you mention the same size? Perhaps you should clean all the connections, particlularly the ground. Some tractors attach the ground to a sheet metal part, and where that part attaches there is rust, paint dirt and loose bolts. I took a hint from my old Case 801B and attached the ground cable to a starter mounting bolt to bypass such a condition. A tractor service battery will give better service too. The automotive batteries will vibrate the plates loose and reduce the output when used in a tractor, combine, etc. That's my thoughts on the matter. I have a MF165 diesel and a 750CCA tractor battery has worked well year-round, I've not had to use a booster just plug it in when under 40 deg. F. for 2hrs prior to use.

Hi, I've been using the 1000cca 27 type batteries. They run $69.00-$79.00. Bill
