Hi, looking at a Massey-Harris 33 to buy to restore for a show tractor. It runs good and looks really good except needs paint. Needs front tie rod ends and needs ring gear. New tires all around. Over all looks like a pretty good tractor. Can anyone tell me how much it is worth. Thanks

I'd want to take a 3/8" rachet and loosen the
transmission case plug by the left brake pedal.
Put your little finger in there to test gear
oil level, condition. A decade or three of low
oil and wining makes for ground down gears. Leaking axle seals, usually caused by no grease,
turns the felt to diamond, actually wearing the
axle diameter down, with no solution but pulling
the shafts for replacement.A novice wanting an
old tractor, needs help to avoid headaches. Take
a Massey-Harris Guy to inspect this 33.

Darren,
Without seeing/hearing the tractor tough call. Saw an average one sell at an auction for $1250. Good tractor but the engine had a nasty knock in it. Another one at a dealer in good shape with power steering. He was asking $1800 so it was worth about $1500- 1600. Not many 33s made. They are worth a bit more. From your description, anything under $1300 would be a bargain. Good luck.
