When I attempt to engage the engine speed PTO it grinds and I end up shutting the tractor down and engaging the PTO then restarting the tractor. What am I doing wrong????

I have had your problem before. Your clutch is out of adjustment. If the clutch doesnt have the proper amount of play in it it will not work correctly. You can adjust the clutch yourself if your mechanically inclined. You remove the cover on the bottom of the housing and adjust several screws using a feeler gauge to get the clearance right.

If you do not have a service manual I suggest that you purchase one. It outlines the procedure more in detail in the manual. You can purchase a manual from your local MF dealer.

Hope this helps you out.
