I have a Massey Harris 44 Special with the narrow front, but with two wheels, I am told that tractor was also made with a single front wheel, can anyone verify that is true. How hard would it be to change the front end out if I located a single wheel. Thanks for your knowledge.

I have the single front wheel, fork, and steering box for sale for the 44. Its still on the tractor and is fairly simple to change. We used to change them all the time on our Farmall H's and M's from double wheel to single wheel.

Yes M-H did make a single front wheel model. Ive never changed one out but I'm sure it can be done.

As Eric mentioned they did make a single front wheel for the 44. However, they seem to be hard to find. They used a 9.00 x 10 10 ply tire. As far as changing them out they are real easy provided you get the complete front end. This includes a cast iron wheel, forks, and special steering box. To switch all you have to do is jack up the front of the tractor, remove the bolts holding the old front, and remove the steereing shaft pin. The old front will slip out and you can slip the new one in. The same process works for adding a wide front.
