Help!! I'm looking at a MF 253 Loader tractor and was wondering what the specs are on this tractor??? HP etc.. I have the serial number, but I can't match it up to get year built. SN is s42011 or 542011? Any and all info would be great. Thanks, Leo

I have a 1997 MF 253. It is 57 hp at the motor and 48 HP at the PTO. It is a good tractor. The weaknesses are:
1.) You have to bleed the fuel system every time the filter is changed. It's a pain.
2.) The hydraulic pumps are inside the tractor, so if you need to work on them the tractor ahs to be split. I've put 2,000 hard houirs on mine with no hydraulic pump problems. I have had prblems with the three point hydraulic pressure valve blowing. But this ius changed w/o breaking the tractor.
3.)It has good low end torque.
4.) It turns tight and starts good in the dead of winter.
