Steve: I have a 1963 MF35 with a Z-134 Continental gas engine. If you have the same engine, here are some compression numbers from my service manual. If you have the 6.6/1 comp ratio,(the most common version), your comp pressure should be 145 PSI at sea level, 140 at 1000, 136 at 2000, 131 at 3000, 127 at 4000, 122 at 5000 feet elevation. If you have the 8.1/1 ratio high altitude engine(less common),your numbers are 170 at sea level, 152 at 4000, 147 at 5000, 143 at 6000, 138 at 7000, 134 at 8000, 129 at 9000. You most likely have the 6.6 version. Hope this helps.

One more thing, I forgot to mention that the motor should be warmed up first.
