Have seen this happen before. My brother got our father's MF135 Orchard Tractor after our father's death. Last year I learned of a MF135 Orchard Tractor that was being sold to settle an estate. This tractor had been parked in an old shed for over 15 years. I learned that the owner had an accident with the tractor in the mid-80's and his family parked the tractor at that time. This tractor was over 300 miles from our orchard. I bought the tractor which only showed 1500 hrs of use, still had the original tires. When I started to disassemble the tractor, I noticed that the tractor was original yellow. The tractor had been painted with massey red and gray but it was original yellow. The strangest thing about this is that our father's tractor was red and gray but was never yellow. When we compared the serial numbers on both tractors, there were only 4 tractors made between these two tractors and they could have been 150's, 165's or 175's because all shared the 9A prefix number. Both tractors are the same except one was originally painted yellow. I have found some old 135 literature showing the tractors in red & gray and also in yellow. This was probably true for the 35's. You might try matching numbers only to establish the year your unit was built. Good luck

I have a MF165 Diesel that was born yellow also I think. It had been repainted some years before I got it, and I found yellow on the belly, front-end, engine, and such. Funny though, I didn't find any yellow on any of the sheet-metal parts. Not sure why. It also has the non-adjustable, heavy-duty front-end, 16.9 x 24 rear tires, heavy cast-iron rear wheel centers, rounded fenders, had foot-throttle at one time, but the pedal and linkage is missing now. Bracket is still there and I sure would like to find a pedal, I could make my own linkages. But my serial number which I can't find right now fits in with the regular agricultural models. I guess I'm so confused I don't know whether to scratch my watch or wind my butt!

I had the same problem with my MF-2135. It's an industrial version of the 135 and all yellow. MF used a different serial number designation for their industrial machines and it isn't easy to find S/N lookup tables for the industrial models.

They are great tractors though. Many of the industrial features are improvements to the agricultural versions. Stronger front ends and additional foot throtles are common.

Thanks for the info. guys. I appreciate all of it. Also, do you know if parts are interchangable between ind. and ag. 35's and to what extent? Can never learn to much! Thanks again!

In most cases, yes. The "industrial" parts are different sometimes (like the foot throtle) and a little stronger (like the front end, according to the manual) but they should bolt up the same.

Biggest differences seem to be convenience items for industrial uses but the tractor underneath is the same.
