Went by a nearby large Massey dealer here in North Florida Saturday on the way to the in-laws and priced a few rigs. They had two gas TO-35s in really nice functionally restored shape, tires not great on either but metal, paint, gauges, seat, etc. very nice, $7995 for either tractor. Diesel TO-35 in not as nice shape as the gas ones but very nice work tractor, tires fair, $8995. IMT 542 Diesel, with really nice front end loader, tires fair, 700 hour honest machine, $10,995. New Massey 240 4X4 with front loader, $24,000. My $1500 (4 years ago) TO-35 with Wagner WM3 loader and new rear tires looked mighty good after this little trip.

Tim, my advice get yourself a double axle
trailer (6000lbs) and find someone with a 3/4
ton truck and come up north to ontario, canada and
take a shopping holiday.

Your being ripped off royally. With the price
they're asking you, you can get 2 of anything up here, "AND" at 1.50$ US per dollar. With the Nafta agreement you can drive it (them) home with no hassles, just like driving over a state border.

It's a bit of work for me here but here's
some samples. I'll just read thru our Truck Trader for examples. Some aren't even old tractors
as tractors go. Don't forget the prices here are Canadian!

MH 44 1800.

MH Junior 1800.

Farmall H 1950.

IH 574 6950.

Farmall A 2550.

1942 Farmall BN fully restored 3500.

Your prices look closer to those around here in the paper and on the side of the road, I was just posting what the "dealer" was trying to get for his "special" tractors. One I can't figure that is giving me fits is a side distributor 8N with nice front loader and box blade for $3250 that has been for sale here in the paper for a while (I went and looked at it but the wife said no). These little buggers are popular around here and I just can't see it sitting at that price. Guess a fair price is what a buyer and seller agree on in any market, unless one of them is a sucker.

It just might be OK. For that price without the bucket everything would have to working excellent. Ford (n)N series in that era go for around 1800-2400 around here. You get an added bonus of course in having the MFG still in business. Check for repairs to the engine block
where the cylinders are.
The gas engines of that era had thin water jackets
and maybe he got the machine in freezing climes like mine. If the axle and engine seals are tight,
the oil pressure is up, no blue smoke after warmup, lots of clutch grab, hydraulics working OK, brakes working reasonably, motor doesn't thump on instant acceleration, I'd pull something heavy with it and see what it does. The governor should kick in at the correct moment.

I tested my massey by tieing it to a tree.
The governor kicked in, first gear and clutch didn't slip and the tires tried to dig to china.

There's a few US companies that do business by buying up canadian antique tractors so there's
a good chance he got it up here.

It sounds like a good deal with the bucket.
The irony is my MH has a ferguson bucket that is
sitting in a field right now that is just made for your tractor.

Good Luck

Do the dealers actually receive what they are asking? I feel like you with my little MF35 and Freeman loader..... I paid just over half what the dealer is asking. Maybe its the cost of new tractors in the 40HP and less range that is forcing the price up. The next time I see one these Masseys for sale privately and priced reasonably, I'm going to take a better look and consider it an investment.
