Your MF35 is based on the Ford Ferguson (9N) starting in 1939 as a "handshake agreement" between Henry Ford and Harry Ferguson. That deal fell apart in the late 1940's, so Ford went on to build the 8N, and Ferguson built the TE tractors in England. He also built the TO tractors in Detroit, and they were the same machine except the TE used an English "Standard" motor and the TO a Continental motor. The Fords and the Fergusons were very similar. Ferguson merged with Massey Harris in 1953. The new company was known as Massey-Harris-Ferguson until 1957, when it was shortened to Massey Ferguson. As a point of interest, MF still makes a tractor based on the one you (and me too) have. It's the 200 series.
