Does anyone know what type of oil is used in the MH 33 Gas engine and what type is used in the transmission/differential? I have a repair manual but it only lists the capacities.

Most people I know use 10w30 in the winter, or 15w40 in the summer in the engine if the weather is really hot, or your working it hard. For the tranny,
our local MF dealer installs MF Permatran fluid, it's a hydraulic and gear lube oil. Shell also sells the same oil, known as Donax TD. Buy which ever is cheaper.

manual for continental 162cu uses 20W. But
I use 10W30 synthetic in my mh30. It's a tough
oil and in hot summers burns less. the tranny oil the other guys recommend is
ok, but don't throw away the old stuff if your
changing it. Put it in clean covered high spot to settle out. Tilt the pail a little so water and
scum will go to the bottom edge. Let sit for
3 months or more. Siphon all but last 2 inches
into another pail with a clean gauze or very fine nylon stretched over it. You've got a nice top up
source of oil. Most contamination is due to condensation buildup I believe and not much through wear.

If you live where it gets COLD, I mean real cold like up here, you might consider something a little lighter in the rear end than the gear lube mentioned below. My son has a 333 (same tractor really as yours) and in the coldest part of winter, he heats up the case with a magnet heater (takes a while) since that heavy gear lube gets pretty thick and it's pretty hard on things. He should change to something lighter but he bought 2 pails of the regular stuff and it isn't cheap. That tractor takes a lot of rear end/tranny/differential oil, about 50 litres I think.
