Here's the problem, the fluid comes through with out alot of pressure. I have a haybine that it will occasionally lift but very sluggish. The 3pt itself is also very slowly to come up. But it doesn't have enough power to lift anything. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated before I go out and spend the money on a new pump.
The prices I have seen are anywhere from 5 to 9 hundred. Where is the best place to find one????? ?????

Hello Rich -

New pump probably isn't needed.

Possible causes: Oil level OK? Then Pudding's suggestion - check the filter, then blown o-rings in the system, possibly tired pump. Lift cylinder rings may be worn, but very rare.

You can take a look in the hole under the PTO shift lever cover after the filter check to see if o-rings are blown - oil blowing off the standpipe or out the top of the pump, when idling and trying to lift a load on the 3-point. You may have to open the other side to see clearly. You should get the I&T manual or MF shop manual before removing the right cover, though - there's some linkage in there to contend with. (Manuals available through our hosts here - click on "Manuals" at the top right.)

You can also check for excessive leakage from the lift cylinder at this time. A small inspection mirror and mini flashlight are helpful for this inspection.

You will have to drain off a couple of gallons of oil before removing those covers, or clean up a mess!

It's highly unlikely the pump is worn enough to require replacement. Rebuild kit has all critical working parts. $250 or so for the earlier models. Cheaper here in Canada.
