New to this (engine repair), but willing to try anything...I have a MF1855 that is having an electrical problem. Basically, if I put the key in the "On" position (not started), the amp meter pegs to the left and the breaker trips after about 10 seconds. I can actually start the tractor, but once the circuit is gone, it dies. I've try checking every circuit I can find, and come up with one clue. If I unplug the voltage regulator it runs fine. I then tried unplugging the alternator (leaving the VR connected) and it ran fine as well. The alternator is buried in this beast (flywheel), so I'm still attempting to get at it. Anyone have any clues as to which replacement part I should order? Any way to check it via the two wires that come from the VR without removing the alternator? If I check the continuity, should I see some resistance? Infinite resistance? If I check each to ground, should I see some/infinate resistance? Thanks in advance. Jacob Huck
