I have an 81 that I bought and the man I bought it from said that many years ago he had bought a replacement motor and put in it. I was wondering if it is possible that replacement motors have a larger bore than the original and if so how much larger would it be? This fellows dad was the original owner so I assume his information is correct. Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Those flatheads were quite interchangable. The F140, I believe in both the 20 & 22, could take
a F162, as I've seen this engine in a 22. It was
the stock engine for the 30. These were common
engines, used on other equipment, such as the
old Oliver baler. A tied baler could easily have
supplied a replacement engine for a tractor. Only
the H260 was exclusive Massey. Can't recall any
applications for the E208 or H277, possibly also
Massey exclusive. Interchange is convenient. You
may have to check your engine numbers.
