My TE-20 is still overheating, however I've reduced the temp from 200 F to 150 F by
advancing the timming. Repeated flushing still shows crud/corrosion comming out.
Inspection of the water pump shows a grease zirk which seems to put the grease directly into the water. Does that seem right?? What is the purpose of this?
What would I expect my normal operating temperature to be?

You probably want to operate at 180 F. 150 is too cold for efficiency. 180 should be set by a thermostat. Sometimes 160 for alchohol based antifreezes but for modern glycol antrifreezes 180 is the right operating temperature.
