Dave:
Nelson Muffler Corp. made the mufflers for Massey
Harris tractors, and I believe are still at it. I
found them on the Internet earlier this year. Beware of aftermarket mufflers, on gas tractors they turn black after a year. The Nelson was
reversible and only the seams would rust. The old
ones never turned black. Best to stay with the
original, since you own the correct red tractor.

Joe: You've changed horses from M-H to M-F. Remember, the M-H tractors were miracles out of
a plant in Racine, Wisconsin. The M-F were
parodies of the original M-H, toys out of Detroit.
Nelson Muffler may have contracted to supply M-F
mufflers, but the last Massey tractor was 1958.
Nelson of Stoughton, Wisconsin, began in 1939,and
built all M-H mufflers to 1958. In 1997, Cummins
Engine purchased Nelson Muffler and combined it with Fleetguard, a Cummins division. E mail:
nelsondiv.com then click on Fleetguard to find
Nelson mufflers. Classicag.com offers a MF50
muffler for $22.95, but I don't know if it's from
China or possibly Nelson. Good luck.

HAA!
Is there some Tractor snootery going on here?! I'm new to this so I didn't realize MF's were just the inferior 'toy' versions of the MH's. :-)
I was told that the MF50 was virtually identical to the MH50 with the exception of a few tin details (same engine, trans, etc.). Please let me know if I'm wrong. When I bought it it came with what I was told was the original owners manual but it was for a Massey-Harris 50. This explains why I got it so cheap! Seriously, though, if there are significant differences I'd like to know - I was assuming that a muffler for a MH50 would fit my MF50...
Thx for the detailed info on the muffler company.

Dave,
I'm looking for a muffler and tail pipe for a 1958 MF50. I couldn't find Nelson Muffler after several searches. Any idea of how to reach them or what they might be listed under other than 'Nelson Mufflers'?
Thx - jt

Try Central Tractor. I got mine for a '55 MH-33 for $16.00.
