Fuel pump and injector timing and pressures are slightly different I think. giving different HP.
I have a Perkins manual and will check when I get home.

The A3-152 has flat top pistons while the AD3-152 has a toroidal cavity in thecrown of the piston.
Different injectors are used. The A3-152 has 2 sprays one into the combustion chamber and the other into the cylinder itself.
The AD3-152 has 4 sprays operating directly into the cylinder.
The differences lead to slightly different timing characteristics and HP. ie don't mix parts.
The AD3-152 is used on the MF148 tractor.
This data is from the 1973 workshop manual for 3.152 and D3.152 diesel engines.

The perkins AD-3.152 is the direct injection versin of the A-3.152 engine.Easy identificaton is the 3 caps behind the exhaust manifold covering the pre combustion chambers on the in-direct injection A-3.152
