Two quick questions. 1) How much weight can the 3 pt hitch safely lift (as in concrete in a barrel for traction)? and 2) What type of oil/fluid should I be using with my Wagner front end loader with front of engine driven pump?

Thanks,

Fran

The weight depends on the shape of the hydraulic pump, the valves, and the lift cylinder. Probably the best bet is to mount the barrel, then add stone until there's too much and if it rattles too much dump in a little concrete for a lid.

For oil in a separate system, its not too critical so long as it doesn't eat seals and foam too much. I like Farmland coop's super HTP. Most farm stores have a universal hydraulic oil that will do fine, generally about SAE 20.
