The book calls for .006" to .008" between crown and pinion gears. Best set with a dial guage. My question is where do you place the guage to take the reading? I want to replace the "O" ring and grease seal and it looks as though I have to remove the bearing adjusting nut. Any Pony mechanics out there that can shed some light on this? Would greatly appreciate any advice. Dave

I'm a retired mechanic and plan to do the same thing to my Pony. I plan to carefully mark the bearing adjuster nuts before removal and if the bearings etc. are all good I should be able to go back to the original setting. I plan to remove only one side at a time. If there are no worn bearings it should run another 50 years. Good luck, Ken
