I just read another post and saw there were also continental diesels. My serial no is 223074 which makes it a 1962 model MF 35. Was perkins the only diesels for this time and was the continental on the later models?? TIA Gerald

Perkins made the only 3 cylinder diesel for the 35's, if yours has 3 cylinders it's a Perkins, if it has 4 cylinders it's a standard.

I own a MF 35 petrol. What points and plugs do I need for it. I live in New Zealand so details of New Zealand equivalents would be appreciated.

many thanks in anticipation

There were at least some early 35 diesels equipped with four cylinder Standards (built by Standard Motors in England, I believe). The model 88 used a 276.5 cubic inch Continental 4 cylinder diesel. Those are more bigger, tho!

Larry, is your Allis is an ED-40? On one of these boards someone made adapters to convert the original glow plugs over to an off-the-shelf pencil type.

Can't say that I've heard that before, at least not in the MF-35. If you have a 3 cylinder diesel, it's a Perkins. And after 18 years with mine I can say it's the best.

The four-cylinder models was earlier than the 3-cyl. Perkin's.
The 3-cyl is also appr. 5 hp stronger.
I have a -62 35 with a Perkins engine and it's running great.
