Please can anyone tell me how to start this beast. It turns over but does not fire, I don't think there is a spark from the spark plugs. It has been standing for 8 months but did go. I have replaced recently, the points, condenser and spark plugs>
Also I next a rear exhaust has anybody got any ideas where I can get one?
Ta

Ron, First, to check if there is a spark at the plugs, remove one and, still connected to the HT lead, hold the base of the plug against a good earth, eg the engine block. Get someone to turn the engine and you should see a nice spark. If not, back to basics. The whole electrical system should be checked. Youve replaced points, condenser and plugs, but what about the distributor cap - if this is old replace it, look at the little carbon contact inside the cap - is it making contact with the rotor arm, if not you'll never get a spark. Look at the rotor - is the brass part nice and bright. Just methodically work your way through the system and you'll find the fault. One thing I should mention which has thrown me in the past is the low tension wire from the coil to the distributor - this should be insulated from contact with the distributor body. Check the insulation - if you've recently changed the points this could be the problem. Lets know how you get on - if I can be of any further help just e-mail me.
Regards
Pete.
