After dinner with Mother-in-law the wife spotted a tractor on the way home. Well we went back and looked it over, and from serial#148556 assumed it is a 1955 TO-35.Not being familiar with Fergusons, I noticed 2 gearboxes-3speed and one that said L-S-H, also there was 2 aux. hydraulic valves. My questions are, does this tractor have live hyd. and live pto ? The hood was really ugly, but the rest of the tractor looked good, assuming it runs good and checks out average what is it worth? Thanks in advance for any info.

Logger, I am far from an expert but I do have an opinon. These are excellent tractors. I understand some had non-live PTOs but most were live. They are the same physical size as a Ford 8N but twice the tractor overall. They have more horsepower, live PTO and hydraulics, and are 12 volt negative ground. Parts are plentiful as are accessories and implements. I compare to 8Ns to make a point on price. Good 8Ns in my neck of the woods go for $2500 and up. Check the price section on this website to see the high end on price. I should also mention these came in two types of Diesel and one gas engine. The Continental gas is good and the Perkins diesel excellent, the Standard diesel can get expensive to repair. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info Tim.I did some searching in archives and found some things to look for and went back today and looked at the tractor and heard it run and moved it around a little bit. I could not find an "M" in the serial # which is supposed to designate live pto? But in trying out the tractor I think it has a live pto, it also has ground speed pto and regular pto. After looking a little closer I found the tractor has seen a lot of use. There was a Danuser post-hole digger, that has'nt dug a hole since 196? by the way it looked. Anyway it is on consignment for$2800.00 I offered$2000.00 and left.
