Trying to rewire tractor. I think that the voltage regulator was not wired correctly. Where do the 4 wires on the regulator go? Here is the best I can tell:
Regulator terminal:
FLD terminal goes to "F"post on the generator?
BAT terminal goes to Ammeter????
L terminal goes to ???? is this the Load side of regulator or does it go to the Lights? Terminal at the underside of the regulator, does it go to the other post on the generator. On my generator it is marked "A" (looks like it goes to one of the brushes?).

There is a third post on my generator that did not have a wire at all to it and is not marked. I am assuming it is grounded to the case?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Don't want to fry a new regulator. The old one had some wires burnt open, the fine ones that were joined together.
