Trans oil for a mf50

what is the correct weight oil for this thing, in the trans and rear? some tell me hydraulic, but others say 80 wt oil
help

I'm trying to clarify the same thing. I have the original owner's manual for my 1958 MF50 which specifies SAE 80/90 mineral oil. The mechanic at the local MF dealer said that's way too thick for the hydraulic pump. They were quite sure that any tractor w/ a common sump for the transmission, differential and hyd. would need the thinner hyd. oil like MF PermaTrans III (I ended up buying Cenex QuickLift HTB which they said was virtually identical but cheaper). However, I'm putting off changing the oil til I can get some verification that what I have is ok. I'm also trying to get some clarification on what to use for the steering oil. -jt
