Have a stuck head on my MF165 AD4-203, checked for a head bolt that I may have missed. I've tried prying some with a screwdriver, but will not move. According to the manual the head gasket is suppose to have a light coating of Permatex #3 on both sides. Could this be holding that tight?

Any ideas would be app. TIA

Thanks for all the ideas.

Can't believe that a head should be on that tight. I borrowed a engine lift from a friend today, put enough pressure on to lift all but the center of the front tire center ribs off the ground. Still wouldn't budge, so I played some heat from a rosebud along the center line of bolts until I thought that it was as warm as if it was the same as operating temp, still not moving. Then I got the piece of wood and the hammer and it finially started to move. Now just have to put it back together.

HELLO LEE THIS IS A VARY COMMEN PROBLEM.I HAVE SEEN THIS ON A LOT OF OLDER PERKINS ENGINES.I WOULD CHECK ONE MORE TIME TO BE SURE YOU DID NOT MISS A BOLT.I WOULD USE SOME P.B.BLASTER SPRAY ON THE STUDS AND LET IT SET OVER NIGHT.I HAVE HAD TO DRILL THE STUDS OUT ON MORE THEN ONE OF THESE.JUST TAKE YOU TIME AND KEEP WORKING IT AND IT MAY BRAKE LOSE.NORMANLY IT ONLY STICKS TO ONE STUD. GOOD LUCK LANCE
