have a chance to purchase a tractor with a model 185 backhoe and 200 loader, but all it says is 35 on the tractor hood. can not find a model or serial number on the tractor. the tractor has a perkins diesel and is in good shape.

Sounds like you have an MF35. There was 2 Perkins engines in the MF35. The older models had a regular injection. It had 3 corner plates bolted on the side of the head. They were combustion chambers. The direct inject does not have the plates. They were found in the later models.

There is a MF 35 with a 153 cid, 37 PTO HP Perkins diesel that was made from 1960-64, without more info this is about as good as I can do.
