Massey 44 I bought has an 8 Volt Battery, 6 Volt charging system.
It is connected with a Positive Ground and system
discharges most of the time.
Have a new 6 volt.
Do I connect to positive ground, Or Negitive
Ground?
Please advise.
Thanks for your Help!!

Unless you alter the charging system and replace your generator with an alternator, you'll need to keep the system positive ground.

8v batteries were added to help with starting on 6v systems. It won't hurt the starter and will turn it a little faster. You can adjust the generator/regulator to charge at 8v so you'd better make sure your's isn't set up for the 8v battery. You could cook that new 6v battery if you don't set it back.

How to adjust the generator/regulator is something I'm sure others on this forum can help with. I haven't done it so am not familiar with how to tell you.
