Hi team,
I am unsure if the glowplug is still working when turning the key to the pre-heat (left) position. It used to work as the Ampmeter showed me by displaying a discharge however sparks flew one day and the Ampmeter no longer works no thats no help. She seems a bit hard to start lately and I'm wondering if the power is still getting through to the glowplug. Is there a simple test I can do with wires and a light bulb or something. I dont have any electrical testing equipment. Should I simply be able to feel the heat if I hold the plug itself?. Thanks for any suggestions and help.

Craig, Remove glow plug and grip in a metal vice. Take a 12 volt battery charger. Take neg lead of charger and clip onto glow plug terminal. Take positive lead and attach to vice.( or vice versa if your tractor is - earth). Turn on charger. Spray business end of glow plug with penetrating oil. If plug is OK it should start to smoke within about 10 seconds as it heats up. Needless to say dont be tempted to feel the plug - they get VERY hot.
