Tachometer Drive on MF50

My '58 MF50 has the mechanical drive tachometer. The tach works when I connect the shaft to an electric drill but the drive gear for the generator shaft is missing. The part number on the generator goes with the original equipment on an MHF50 so I'm not sure if it was scavanged by one of the previous owners. The shaft on this generator only sticks out a fraction of an inch and there does not seem to be any way to attach a drive gear. Can anyone tell me how this tach drive is supposed to be set up and where I might find this tiny gear. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

there is a small gear box type of arrangement that is held on the rear of the generator by two screws, the shaft coming out of the generator should be splined, this drove gears in the box to which the cable screws onto

Thanks for your help. The splined generator shaft is what is missing from my setup. The generator was probably taken off another tractor.
