My MH Pony steering box is leaking oil, Is there suppose to be an oil seal where the "L" shaped lever protrudes from the box to the tie-rod?

Rick there is a seal there I've replace mine 3 times still leaked. Turned out new brass bushings on a metal lathe. Then drilled steering shaft for grease fitting and drilled 2 holes for grease outlets in the bushing area. Packed full of grease and give a shot when I service it. The seal is a CARQUEST 472311.

Rick, as you can see below, i have my own pony problems. i looked in the manual i just received and it shown an inner and outer bushing on the output shaft but no seal. could it be that your bushings are worn or that the gear box is too full of oil? sorry i couldn't be of definate help.

Not sure if your box is the same as a MH30,
but someone on the board a while back got fed up
with pouring oil in a leaky box and simply drilled
and taped a grease fitting and packed it with fibre grease. He said worked like a charm.

I'm doing the same this summer.

Blue.

The book does not show a seal, but it looks like there is one when you look at the unit. Might want to take it apart to see whats in there.
