I'm tractor hunting for something to mow 10 acres of pasture, do farm chores, and move snow. The 2 best I've found to date are a an AC WD45, in really great shape, original paint, new tire & hydrolics.
The other is a MF35 Turf Special, It's rough, some of the gauges need replaced, it has BIG FAT turf tires.
My wife likes the WD45 best & I like the MF because its low, I've got an artifical hip, It has a 3 pt hitch, and I like the big fat tires. reminds me of my gearhead days, but I could live with the WD45.
What do you think?
Jerry

The low tractor with the wide turf tires will be good for mowing, but you may find it too low for general farm work. I don't know how those tires would be in snow but I thinks it would be hard to find chains to fit or they would be expensive. The tires would be too wide if you contemplate plowing, cultivating etc. Also the lowness can cause it to rub on the ground when running in a plow furrow, and will have much less crop clearence. If the Massey is a true low-center-of-gravity model it may have different front wheel spindles and even a different rear end gear ratio than the ag model.

The Allis should have more guts than the Massey. However it will likely have 6 volt ignition and lights, and the Massey will be 12 volt. Something to think about when jumping either to or from another more modern vehicle.

Unless somebody put one on, the Allis won't have 3 point hitch, and for what you want, you would probably wish that it did, real quick.

If you were a gearhead (maybe you never get over being one) replacing a few gages shouldn't be a big deal. I'd say go Massey unless your wife is gonna use it more than you are.

I own a 135 and a wd and like bolth, 1) the wd is probably cheaper and easy to find used parts for but have you driven it ? the off center seat is not real handy as far as getting on and off and pushing in the foot clutch can be a stretch. 2) the mf's usually are more money but are also very handy, all parts are availible, more gear choices you will find the mf easy to get on and off. if i could only own one it would be the mf. if i ony wanted cheap power then you cant beat the allis. good luck.

The WD 45 should/may have a hand clutch along with a foot clutch.
Can be very handy. Also I would think
the AC would be more powerful than the MF in this size. Both would be good if they're in good condition.
