No need for sulfur in diesel!

I have been in contact with the largest supplier of diesel-fuel here in Sweden.

They said that the new non-sulfur diesel has additives in form of a syntetic oil for lubrication of the injection pump.
Test's have been made comparing the old sulfur diesel and the new diesel, and they have found that the new diesel has even better lubrication than the old one.

I can't answer for what kind of diesel that are sold in other countries, but a quick phonecall should do the trick.

It takes a while for people to want to use synthetics. Most people including me do not think synthetics can lubricate as good or as long as sulfur. It takes a little time and other people to try it first and if their machines don't blow up then I'll try it. But for now I will stick with sulfur.

I think that test-result's should be enough, it's certanly good enough for me.

The test's they had done was metal against metal, and the test shown that when using the old sulfur diesel you had more scratch-mark's on the surface than using the new lubricated diesel.

I have a Polaris snowmobile that ever since it was new (1990) have been runing on synthetic 2-stroke oil, and there has been no problem with that engine, and I think that is a much harder application than an injection-pump.

I agree with Robert. I used to be big into the radio contolled model aircraft. Years ago they came out with the synthetic oil for out little (sometimes big) engines. Well, some of the guys started complaining how the engines just weren't built as good as they used to be. I built a 1/4 scale airplane and put a "Fox" engine on it. I started running the engine and it ran good for a little while then just went south. I returned it to Fox and they called me and told me just what kind of fuel I had run in it. They said the did not stand behind an engine that was ran with synthetic fuel (meaning oil for lube). They rebuilt the engine and told me to run only castor oil for lube. That is what was ran for years in them and they seemed to run forever. I promised I would do this. I broke the newly rebuilt engine in with castor oil based fuel. Guess what, that engine will run as good today as it did when I got it. I now run nothing but castor oil based fuel in my engines, and I don't have the problems the other guys with synthetics do. Perhaps synthetics is good when ran as crankcase oil in a 4 stroker, but when mixed with fuel? I think I will stick with Robert on this one and stay with the tried and proven lubericant.
