How do I determine Year for MF135, Plate Gone

I bought my MF135 Saturday, I still don't know what
year it is and its bothering me. The dealer says
its late 60's but the plate's gone from below the
steering column. How can I figure out what year it
is. Has a 4 cyl Continential Engine. My used
tractor book lists 64 and 67 as the only year the
4 cont was an option, the dealer however says
that's wrong. I tend to agree with the dealer, he
had 4 MF135's on his lot and all 4 were 4 cyl
Cont's. that's almost too much of a coincidence
given that the MF135 was in production for 10 years.

Its a beauty, dealer restore it, tuned it up,
got 2100 hours, and runs great. Blows some smoke
on startup(but so does my Chevy pickup) but turns
right over. I probaly paid to much for it 6250,
but for the condition it is in I feel I got a deal.
Any help on the year would be greatly appreciated.

Don - log onto the following site link. Send them an e-mail message with the tractor make, model, and the SN of the Continental engine. Ask them to e-mail you back with the year the engine was built. That will give you a pretty good clue as to the year the tractor was built.

Most 135's have a 3cyl perkins engine, available gas or diesel. The 4cyl you have does'nt seem to be found much around here so I don't have any knowledge of them. Back quite a time a post appeared here that said it you take the engine, tans, and diff, casting nos. to a MF dealer they had a means to identify the year of manufacture. I've not tried it so I can't say it's true. Sorry I haven't been much help.
