Does anyone know if there is some type of conversion kit to convert an MF65 to the more modern spin on oil filters. Thanks

There used to be a spin on filter kit available from M.F. I think you will have to order individual parts now. The part numbers were as follows> 1051 113m1, 1051 114m1, 1051 115m1,and 1069 954m91 These part numbers was for a filter, a metal plate, sealing washer and a short threaded tube with a shoulder on it that passed thru the metal plate securing it to the block, the filter screwed on to the tube, sealing against the plate.

Guess I should have mentioned that I have the Continental gas engine on my MF65. But thanks for the information anyway.

Sure,

I should have guessed that. I guess you live in America, and if so you have more gas than diesel engines...

You should have seen the diesel engine power on the MF 65..... there is never any drop in engine speed like you mentioned in the other post unless you have very high load.

Guess I have to send you a pic. on our 65 one day.

Uses Fram C3 on the side of the block like my MF-135?

I've been looking but not found it yet. That's a bypass filter and most spin on filters are full flow filters. There is a Fram bypass spin on filter, but its 5 times the price of the C3 element and the adapter would have to be made by a machinest. Which would be practical. I've just been too lazy to do it.

So you do use a Fram C3 on your 135. Did that tractor come with that setup or did it originally have the canister type filter. I will look into that Fram bypass spinon. Thanks for the info.

The Fram C3 is the element for the canister, I see in CT its the same part number for MF-135 with Continental as for MF-65 with Continental gas. To use a bypass spin on filter would take making a plate with seal for the block, a bolt to hold it in place and with proper ports and threads for the spin on the thread on and then a flat sealing surface for the filter. Not at all that wild, just not a commodity item.

As I recall from the last time I looked through the full Fram catalog I think that bypass spin on filter was something like a FH-50. At least the 50 sticks in my mind. You don't want to use a full flow filter in a bypass situation because it won't have enough back pressure. The pressure regulation valve seems to depend on some back pressure from the filter.

I've bought C3 elements for as little as $3 each, but I think that spin on filter was more like $12 or 15.
