Any Comments on a MF135 4 cyl? My used tractor
guide 2001, Intertec, lists 64 and 67 as
production years for this engine and $3400 and
$4680 for value in excellent condition. Has 909
hours on it and the dealer wants $5500 with a
sickle bar attached. Haven't got to hear it run
yet, saw it on the lot on Sunday and called
Monday, it looks very clean, but has a new seat, I
assume old one rusted out? Dealer indicated got it
from an old lady original owner who wanted to
liquidate without all the traffic of an auction.
Dealer says parts for this engine have a high
availability. Anything anyone can suggest to me
when I talk to him would be great.

I have a MF-2135 with the Z134 Continental Gas engine. I don't have any trouble with it and it's a work horse. The only caution I've heard is never to let it get hot. Mine doesn't ever get hot but I assume that means to watch the temp and don't limp along with a poor radiator. I assume the block might crack if it gets too overheated.

It's been a real good tractor/engine for me.

Continental are pretty robust and go a long time. However, as with any good quality industrial engine, parts prices are higher than a camel's back. Chances are with the low hours on the mill, you won't need parts at least not very soon.
