Got a 1969 MF165. Diff-lock foot-pedal was off, I found it, put it back on, won't move. Took the housing off, shaft was frozen in the housing. WD-40, hammer, time, and work got it free and now works properly. Gasket appeared to have been leaky, and moisture got in. Now the hard part. The shaft with the angled slot in it, that goes through the axle housing to the differental is frozen also. Sprayed WD-40 and pecked with a hammer lots of times over the course of a few days, no luck. No easy way to get to the shaft without taking the axle housing off, which I'd rather not do. Does anyone know of any penetrating oil or whatever that might seep in and do the trick? Thanks, Stan

WD40 is a drying agent and not a great penetrating oil.

Try "PB Part Blaster" my favorite. It has a catalyst that actually disolves rust.

Another is "Kroil." I get it at a machine supply store but it's available by mail order too. The stuff is about the best penetrating oil I've ever worked with. It doesn't eat the rust like PB does but it's a fine penetrating oil.

Even the old "Liquid Wrench" is a better penetrating oil than WD40. Don't get me wrong, I use WD40 but never to free a stuck part.

Thanks Tyler. I've not heard of PB part blaster. I'll have to look around here (near Huntsville, AL) to find it. Appreciate your help.Stan
