Greetings, I have recently removed that gas tank on my to35 only to find rust particles and debris in there. I want to clean it out and and reseal it with either paint or some sealant. Any advice in this project?

If your tank isn't leaking, the fixes from Jerry and Rick sound good. I've fixed 2 leaking gas tanks with "Kreem" brand gas tank sealer. Got it from a motorcycle shop. They seal Harley tanks with it. It's worked very well for me both times.

Tony. Had the same problem with my TO-35 gas tank. Took it to the radiator shop, had them hot tank it and then coated with gas tank sealer. Best thing I have done. No more rusty gas or cloged filters. Good luck

Thanks for the info guys. I got some acetone, several screws and bolts and threw it all in the tank and shook it like crazy. I was very surprised at all the crud that came out. I will do it a few more times. The tank is in pretty good condition. Jerry, what is the gas tank sealer you used and where can I get it. I called several autoparts stores and they have no idea. Thanks again guys from the Lone Star State.

Tony. Your question surprizes me I was under the impression that the coating material was available everywhere. I bought mine through Hinkleys automotive magazine but I also know that it is avaliable through eastwood(www.eastwoodcompany.com).If you are still having troubles check with your local radiator shop.

Had the same problem with my 35 Diesel. It plugged up the filter with dirt and would't run. Took the tank off and sent to a rad shop and they steamed it out.Came back shiney. I just installed and filled it right up with fuel to prevent further rust.Replaced all filters and its run great ever sinse.
