Hello Phil -

Chassis number is on a plate on the dash, ahead of your knee as you're on the seat. They often go missing.

You might consider using the engine number instead. Diesel engine number is located at the top of the block over the generator; don't know about gas.

If you have a 4-cyl diesel, it was made prior to 1959 - MF shifted to Perkins about that year. Might be able to narrow it down a bit closer with the engine number.

For registration purposes it probably doesn't matter much, as long as you have a unique number on the unit. You could even stamp one which looks legitimate into the flywheel housing.

If you let us know whether it's gas or diesel, single or dual clutch, and whether you have a differential lock, we can give you a respectable and reasonable serial number!

Hi Phil -

According to this site, you have a 1958.

Link

SDM is Standard chassis, D - Standard Motors Diesel engine, M - dual Clutch.

Great tractor.

Engine will last almost forever - once you get it started! That was the drawback with the Standard; Perkins overcame that weakness. A Block heater helps a lot.
