I am looking for a tractor and called about a '48 Massy-Furg that was advertised. He however doesn't know what madel it is. I asked him to check around for a serial number or something but all he could come up with was "F23W". Any ideas?

Here's more info: gas, 6 volt electrical, wide front, 3 pt, PTO (not live).

Thanks.

- Gerald

A lot of Massey-Harris tractors are advertised as Massey-Ferguson due to name recognition or lack of info.

M-H made a model 23 (actually semi-rare) called the "COLT". The ser no. would have the letters "F23" in it if it is a foot clutch. Ask owner to check on the top of the tranny housing (usually on the LH side) and see if there is more info under the grease.

The only thing with a 1948 manufacture date is the TE TO series of tractors go look at it yourself there should be a tag on the dash above the steering post if not look at the engine for Z120 or other numbers. Also look at the oil filter location is it on the side of the block or inside the engine. Post again with more info. regards
