Can anyone identify this cast iron toy as old or not so old? I found it in the possessions of my 93-year-old uncle when he passed away a few years ago. The RH half of the cab is broken off and is lost. Outside of "AVERY" cast into the sides of the frame, I can't see any indentifying marks.

It appears to be a model of a 14-28, which was introduced in 1919 .

Most of the reproduction toys have roll-pins for axles, and the castings generally are rougher than the real toy. I have several repro's that i keep for setting around on display, but they usually only cost $10 or so. Your model looks nice, too bad about the broken part! by: Rustyj

Hubley made a cast iron model of the Avery 18-36 in 1920. It is 4-1/2"long. Value $131

Arcade made a cast iron model of the 40-65 in 1928, also 4-1/2"long. Value $167

Does a magnet stick to your tractor? If so, it's really cast iron.

An unidentified manufacturer made a Sandcast Aluminum model in 1948. It is not identified as to model, but is 4-1/4" long and is described as having no engine hood, has canopy, is green with red wheels. Valud $151

Since I don't see any Phillips head screws, I have to assume that it is old. Many off-shore copies of many different toys built in recent years have Phillips head screws.

I hope I've been of some help here.
