Hello. I have an old tractor that is obviously an ERTL made John Deere but I don't know what year it was made. Also I'm curious about it's color. It's a bluish green and not the typical Deere green. It doesn't appear to have been repainted (ie: no masking around the decals and such). Does anyone know if this is the original color?
Thanks...
Hammer

Hey guys I have the exact same tractor that I got as a kid back in the seventies. Only difference is that mine has the solid yellow decal and a yellow seat. Do you know if you can get replacement decals for these anywhere? Any and all info is appreciated!

Loren is right about the time frames that that basic casting was used. I believe yours is either a 4440 type with a 50 series decal or an actual 4450 type. There was a casting change from the 40 series to the 50 series, but I don't know what it was.

Loren is also right on the color change over the years. All in all, it looks like a really good unit.

Hammer,
That casting and model number were used for three or four different tractors. The 4430 (solid stripe decal, early '70s), the 4440 (some vertical black lines on the decal, late '70s) and the 4450 (more vertical lines, early '80s).
The blue-green color is from fading. Most turned that color is left out in the sun.
