I have been seeing a lot of Britains model tractors on Ebay for sale. Some are interesting, but many have one common problem-something causes the plastic wheels to melt- any idea what is going on here?

Are these recently built Britains tractors? You probably already know that Ertl bought Britains two or three years ago. If these are new (in that time frame) items, maybe you could check with RCErtl to find out. If you can't find their website or e-mail address, I'll try to help.

Stan,

No these are their older pieces- The Ford 5000 Super Major, etc. The rims appear to have softend, especially right next to the tire-possibly a chemical reaction between rubber and plastic. haven't bought any yet.

I guess I can't help on this one. I'm guessing your chemical reaction theory is as good as any, but storage in a hot attic might be a contributing factor.

Sorry,
