Dicks' Farm Toy Price Guides lists only two 830s, both of which were custom pieces - one by Trumm ($115 NIB) and one by Stephan ($642 NIB).

There have been numerous 4010s made since 1990, most of which are "collector" or "special edition" models. There is one shelf model wide front and one shelf model narrow front, both priced at around $25+.

I would suggest that you start attending some farm toy shows in your area. If you don't know where any are, give me your location (town only is fine) and I'll look in the Toy Farmer show schedule to see what I can find.

Dick's Farm Toy Price Guide can be bought from:

Dick's Toys
24501 470th Ave.
Mapleton, MN 56065

They are $8.50 postpaid, and they do request that you send U.S. funds.

In a prior post, I mentioned that maybe I could help you find some shows - the Toy Farmer listing doesn't include any in Canada, but maybe I can find some down south for you - I'll look.

Best regards,

Stan - Florida (the other Stan).

James,

I didn't really answer your question. The best way to keep track of the farm toy hobby is to subscribe to Toy Farmer Magazine, 7496 106 Ave., SE, LaMoure, ND 58458-9404. It is $22.95 for 12 issues, and is a great magazine for newbies in the hobby or for oldies if they don't already get it.

OK, here you go. Not sure how far you are from any of these.

Jan 17 & 18, Raleigh, NC - Toy & Hobby show at the NC State Fairgrounds, Kerr Scott Bldg., 1025 Blue Ridge Rd. Sat. 9 to 5, Sun 10 to 4. Call 919-553-4285 for more info.

Jan 24 & 25, Charlotte - Toy, Hobby, Sportscard, NASCAR show at Metrolina Expo, I-77 N Exit 16A, 7100 Statesville Rd. Sat 9 to 5, Sun 10 to 4. Call 919-553-4285 for more info (same number as the Raleigh show).

Mar 20, Asheville (not eastern NC, but here goes) - Toy & Hobby show at the National Guard Armory, 2 blocks north of U.S. 36 on U.S. 283. 9 to 4, call the same number as above for more info.

Mar. 27, Hickory. Same phone number as above.

It looks as though the only shows coming up are put on by the same outfit, whoever it is. A phone call to find out if they really have farm toys at these shows would be a good idea.

There's a really good farm toy show in Burlington each August, but I don't know exactly when it will be next year (it was on Aug 9 in 2003). Call 336-584-9829 and ask to be put on their mailing list for a flier. This one is really farm toys and has been going on for about 18 years.

Good luck,

Stan - Florida
