Mine arrived today. J R Hobbs has a superb article about the unstyled G. Allow me to reminise. My Father was one of the older ones to be drafted in WWII. I remember him going. After the war, we tenant farmed tobacco. The farm was sold in 1947, we were told to move and the little money we had bought 6 acres to build a house. My grandfather had a 1939 G. We cleared the land with crosscut saw- never heard of chainsaw till years later. Logs hauled 6 miles- a one hour trip each way on big trailer with the G, many trips- to a steam power stationery sawmill. We rigged the front-mounted cordwood saw on the G to cut the ends of the framing, rafter angles, etc. Now am settling their estate and that house is mine. No other practical thing to do other than sell it. Quite a mixture of joy and sadness as I thought about the G and what it meant to us at that time and since. 2 cylinder JD's are special to me. Thanks for "listening". Thanks to J R for the article.

I have not owned that tractor, last drove it about 1959. Cousin has it, not in running condition, but plans to keep it. Will have to sell the house.
