Have been having a lot of spark plug fouling problem in my newly remanufactured John Deere LA engine. I understand that Champion D-23 plugs are a hotter plug. Would they be OK to use? The Magneto has been rebuilt and has a blue spark and the spark plug wires are metal core. Thanks AWB

You can use Champion H-12 or try H-10C. I have an L and i run H-10C. Never fouled a plug.

AWB, The LA head takes a 14mm thread spark plug, and the D-23 plug has a larger thread (I think 18mm or 7/8), anyway it won't fit, but there are lots of heat ranges available in 14mm, so pick a brand you like and look at the heat range chart in the catalog at any place they sell plugs. You can start with what you are using and go a step or 2 hotter. I use Champ H-10 plugs in mine, (they may have a new number now) but it doesn't get run much.
